stuttering in a 2 year old following parents seperation?
my 2 year old sister was very good at talking before her parents seperated. she was very much a daddy’s girl & now her mother won’t allow her to see her father. she has suddenly developed a stutter after them being seperated for 3 months. she was allowed to see her father at first but now her mother has cut her off completely- about the same time the stutter begain. I know it is slightly common for children to stutter at this age due to not being able to keep up with what they want to say, but I was also thinking it was pretty coincedental for it to occure now that she no longer can see her father. is stuttering related to something stressful like this in such a young child?
It could just be a coincidence. Check out www.stutteringhelp.org as they have tips for things you can do to help, how to determine if/when the child needs to see a specialist, and referrals to speech therapists who are trained to work with stutteirng.
